Demand the certifications
- CUFCA-certified installer, photo ID current.
- Works to CAN/ULC-S705 and can say so specifically.
- Insurance and, for commercial, WCB coverage.
Ask the questions a pro answers easily
- How do you handle substrate temperature in cold weather? (Critical in Alberta.)
- What lift thickness do you spray per pass?
- How do you handle the thermal barrier and re-occupancy time?
- Closed-cell or open-cell for my job, and why?
Red flags
- A flat per-square-foot price with no board-foot detail.
- No mention of standards or certification.
- Vague answers on temperature and thickness.
- Pressure to spray the expensive foam everywhere.
