Rust in a steel building is the slow, expensive consequence of condensation. Every cold season, moisture forms on the interior steel, sits on fasteners and seams, and corrodes the structure from the inside - long before you'd notice a hole. Stopping the rust means stopping the water, and that means addressing the condensation at its source.
How the corrosion starts
Condensation on the underside of panels and around fasteners keeps the steel wet through the winter. Wet steel rusts; rusted fasteners loosen; stained panels and weakened connections follow. It's cumulative, and it shortens the life of the building and anything stored in it.
Why closed-cell foam is preventive
By bonding to the steel and eliminating the cold condensing surface, closed-cell foam keeps the metal dry - no condensation, no ongoing corrosion. It's as much a structural-protection investment as an insulation one, especially for shops, storage and agricultural buildings holding valuable contents.
